Reading is Key
Despite the obvious fact that the ability to read is necessary to function in society, reading enhances mind development. While many children learn to read in school, reading in school alone is not enough. The short moments dedicated to reading in school are not enough to facilitate mind growth. There remains many young children reading in school, who cannot actually read. Their futures will be imperiled because they do not read well enough to meet the demands of our competitive, technology-driven society.
The ability to read and comprehend is the basis for all other education. Literacy is necessary to understand information that is out of context, whether written or verbal. The mind is a muscle and as our bodies need exercise so does our mind. Comprehending what is read is one way the mind grows in its ability. Teaching and developing the reading skills of children helps them develop their language skills.
Reading is the key to educational growth, discovering new things, communication development and creative thinking. Children should read 30 minutes or more each day outside of the school classroom. Reading is power; power which is needed to succeed.
